Unusual Clauses in Wills

All Wills (apart from those written by certain members of the Royal Family) are made public.

Some of the more unusual bequests are shown below:

A man left his widow one farthing, with directions that it be forwarded to her in an unstamped envelope.

Another bequeathed his wife "one pair of my trousers, as a symbol of what she wanted to wear in my lifetime, but did not."

"To my wife I leave her lover and the knowledge that I was not the fool she thought I was.
"To my son I leave the pleasure of earning a living. For 20 years he thought the pleasure was mine. He was mistaken"

Let us know if you are aware of any amusing bequests. We will publish the best.
